These are situations every driver dreads: The caravan begins to sway due to gusty winds, wind pressure during overtaking maneuvers, or sudden evasive maneuvers. In the worst case, it rocks violently and an accident occurs. AL-KO offers the ATC, an anti-sway system that – like ESP in a car – uses a lateral acceleration sensor to detect pendulum movements at the caravan axle. The system stores a tolerance range for permissible lateral movements. If this is exceeded, the ATC intervenes before the caravan can begin to sway. The Bowden cables are pulled, which in turn activates the wheel brakes. This straightens the vehicle combination and brings it back into line. Braking by the AL-KO Trailer Control is smooth, but still noticeable to the driver. The brake lights do not illuminate during this process. Note: Please be aware that the ATC does not affect the critical speed range for your caravan. Therefore, it has no impact on the requirements for the 100 km/h speed limit for caravans and other trailers. You can use the AL-KO Trailer Control with all caravans with an AL-KO chassis manufactured from 1998 onwards. Installation can be carried out by more than one hundred AL-KO dealers in Germany. The ATC is connected to the trailer's power distribution box. An automatic operational check is performed upon connection. A green LED on the start-up device indicates operational readiness.
