DEKASYL MS-5 is an MS polymer-based adhesive with high adhesion and initial strength, suitable for creating elastic connections between components. Due to its high adhesive strength, clamping times can be reduced or clamping can be eliminated entirely. Furthermore, DEKASYL MS-5 can also be used as a sealant when joining similar materials (with similar stiffness) or when mechanical fastening methods are used. Applications: Elastic connections and seals in train, caravan, motorhome, and truck construction. Bonding of windows, air conditioning systems, solar panel spoilers, semi-flexible solar panels, or roof penetrations. Bonding of edge profiles on trailers with aluminum or polyester. Processing

DEKASYL MS-5 can be easily applied by hand or with a pneumatic caulking gun at temperatures from +5°C to 35°C. For sealing, DEKASYL MS-5 should be further processed or smoothed within 12 minutes (at 20°C/50% relative humidity) using a spatula or putty knife previously dipped in mild DEKAFINISHER. Avoid allowing DEKAFINISHER to penetrate between the surfaces being joined and the sealant, as this will lead to a loss of adhesion. For bonding, the substrates must be joined within 15 minutes (at 20°C/50% relative humidity) after applying DEKASYL MS-5. The higher the temperature, the shorter the working time. Generally, a 2 mm adhesive layer is recommended when bonding similar materials (with similar strength). The greater the difference in thermal expansion, the thicker the adhesive layer should be. Further information is available from Dekalin. At a temperature of 20°C and a relative humidity of 50%, DEKASYL MS-5 can be painted over with most industrial paints after just 10 minutes. The best possible adhesion of paint layers is achieved when the paint is applied 4 hours after applying DEKASYL MS-5. Clean tools or remove uncured residues of DEKASYL MS-5 with a clean, colorless cloth dampened with, for example, DEKACLEAN Ultra (it is recommended to test beforehand whether the surface is affected by this cleaner).
