Is the battery really fully charged? Why is energy being drawn from the battery even though all consumers are switched off? The VOTRONIC LCD Battery Computer S answers these questions precisely to the percent (%) and ampere-hour (Ah). At the touch of a button, it provides comprehensive information about the current state of charge of the battery, the battery currents flowing, and the battery voltage. Building upon the highly proven VOTRONIC LCD battery computer, the LCD Battery Computer S was developed. Its versatile, user-friendly display functions have been enhanced by a clear, backlit LCD screen that is easily readable even from a distance and in poor lighting conditions. The device maintains constant communication with the battery, registering and evaluating all battery activity. All charging and discharging currents are meticulously recorded, and battery size, self-discharge, battery load, etc., are taken into account using pre-programmed characteristic curves. The remaining battery capacity is then calculated from the measured values and the battery size. The result is a precise display of the battery's state of charge (the remaining usable capacity) as a numerical value in ampere-hours ("Ah") and as a percentage ("%"), as well as a clear bar graph, similar to a fuel gauge. The LCD Battery Computer S is suitable for all battery types (lead-acid, gel, AGM, lithium, adjustable) with 12V and 24V battery voltages. The current battery voltage ("V") and current ("A") are also displayed. Discharge currents (consumers) are indicated by a minus sign. Charging currents are also indicated by a clearly legible "Charge" symbol. Separately, there is another display option for the voltage of a second battery, e.g., for monitoring the vehicle's starter battery. The LCD Battery Computer S has a freely programmable switching output for control, monitoring, and warning purposes, for example, to automatically switch consumers or issue a warning depending on the on-board battery's state of charge (0-100%). Switching points on and off are freely and independently adjustable in percent, enabling any desired switching functions. Furthermore, these can be manually overridden at any time by pressing a button. Application example: Automatic battery protection against damaging deep discharge; consumers are switched off precisely according to their state of charge, e.g., when the charge level drops below 25%. An emergency on function is available at the touch of a button to continue powering the consumers. The device can therefore also be used as a remote-controlled main battery switch (on/off) with deep discharge protection. A plug-and-play connection cable connects the display to a robust precision measuring resistor (smart shunt), which is connected directly to the negative terminal of the vehicle battery and measures the battery voltages and currents. The switching output for connecting signal transmitters or powerful switching relays is also located here. Matching the VOTRONIC modular system, the device integrates seamlessly with the other display modules both visually and mechanically (uniform height 85 mm), and its shallow installation depth of only 22 mm allows for mounting in almost any location.
